The NBA trade deadline is this Thursday, and with so many teams looking to upgrade their rosters, it’s no surprise that the rumor mill has been running wild. Who will be traded? What trades are in store for the 2019-2020 season? All of these questions have yet to be answered, but one player is already being speculated on by every team in the league.

Marcus Smart, Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics have already completed a deal by acquiring Kemba Walker and are focusing their efforts on developing Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Marcus Smart is an important part of Boston’s defense, but he will most likely be traded to make room for another player in the starting lineup. The goal for Boston is to trade Smart for a third All-Star player with significant first-round selections.
Landry Shamet, Brooklyn Nets
With three great players, the Brooklyn Nets are the most talented team in the NBA. The Nets would have won the championship this year if Kyrie Irving and James Harden hadn’t been injured. Landry Shamet is the most important trade asset on the squad heading into next season. Despite the fact that the Nets have a lot of offense, trading Shamet for a competent big man makes sense.
Malik Monk, Charlotte Hornets
LaMelo Ball is an untouchable for the Charlotte Hornets, but the roster can be enhanced by trading some talented young players. Malik Monk averaged 11.7 points per game this season, but he is 25 years old and may be a valuable trade asset. Charlotte needs experience and scoring to help LaMelo progress, and Monk may be the price of admission.

Collin Sexton, a potential All-Star guard who can score at his own pace, is being shopped by the Cavaliers. Sexton averaged 24.3 points per game this season, but Cleveland is looking to cash in on him now that his value is at an all-time high. Cleveland may acquire some very good young players like as Kyle Kuzma or Tyler Herro if Sexton is a sought-after commodity by championship contenders such as the Lakers or Heat.

Luka Doncic, a top-10 player for the Dallas Mavericks, implies that everyone on the roster except Tim Hardaway Jr is instantly available. Porzingis was a failure in the playoffs, and he’ll almost certainly be replaced with a great who can alleviate Doncic of scoring burden.
Monte Morris, Denver Nuggets

This season, Denver did a fantastic job getting Aaron Gordon, but they still need more, which means Monte Morris may be on the move. Morris, who averaged 10.2 points per game and 3.2 assists per game this season, might be a valuable backup point guard.
Josh Jackson (Detroit Pistons)
The Pistons are in the midst of a rebuild, so relocating players who don’t suit their plans is a priority this summer. Josh Jackson is 24 years old and has begun to show promise, but Detroit may want to move up in the selection in 2023. Because there isn’t a certain star on the roster right now, the Pistons must concentrate on the draft. Jackson may be traded to the Houston Rockets in return for a more valued draft choice by the Pistons.
James Wiseman, Golden State Warriors

Eric Gordon, Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets are in rebuilding mode, relying on Christian Wood, Jae’Sean Tate, and Kevin Porter Jr. for their future. Eric Gordon, a key component of the Rockets’ success throughout the years, is almost 33 years old and does not fit in with the youthful team Houston is attempting to assemble. Turner may be traded for a combination of picks and players, since Indiana already has Domantas Sabonis eating up minutes. Indiana’s aim is to keep Sabonis happy, and re-signing players like TJ McConnell and Doug McDermott might be a secondary goal.
Luke Kennard, Los Angeles Clippers
In the absence of Kawhi Leonard, the Clippers redeemed themselves after last season’s disappointments, with Paul George playing like an MVP. Leonard is likely to re-sign, which means the Clippers will need to upgrade their roster. Luke Kennard, who was signed to a long-term deal, is a good shooter who averages 44.6 percent from three-point range. The Clippers are in desperate need of help, and a 25-year-old shooter might be just what they need.

Memphis could trade Melton for Grayson Allen or Desmond Bane in a package deal to get a scorer who can run his own offense with Morant.

The Miami Heat blew it this year by failing to make a trade for James Harden. Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo need assistance and cannot be expected to lead the club to another NBA Finals. Tyler Herro had a poor season, and the Heat desperately need a superstar on the magnitude of Bradley Beal. Miami should strike this summer because the East is becoming more competitive, and Herro is just 21 years old.
Malik Beasley of the Minnesota Timberwolves
Minnesota must do everything possible to retain Karl-Anthony Towns on board, which includes trading Malik Beasley, who just received a huge deal. This year, Beasley had off-court difficulties, and the club can’t afford to cope with any additional problems on top of their regular losses. Minnesota has been a pushover since Jimmy Butler’s departure. Beasley is likely to be traded in order to rid the roster of dead weight.
Donte DiVincenzo, Milwaukee Bucks
Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton, and Giannis Antetokounmpo were all signed to long-term contracts by the Bucks. On both sides of the court, the Bucks are one of the greatest teams in the NBA, and adding to the roster only enhances their championship prospects. DiVincenzo did not play in the playoffs this season, but he is just 24 years old and may be shifted to help the team surrounding Giannis. The Bucks are in the Finals right now, but it won’t be as easy next year.
Eric Bledsoe, New Orleans Pelicans
This season, the Pelicans were terrible, and head coach Stan Van Gundy wasn’t the perfect match. Eric Bledsoe is also a poor fit for the club since starting with Lonzo Ball on offense does not produce results. Bledsoe will be moved in order for the Pelicans to construct a team around Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, particularly since Lonzo Ball is said to be departing as well.
Obi Toppin, New York Knicks
The New York Knicks stunned the world by reaching the playoffs, and they seem to be on the right road. Julius Randle is an All-Star, Derrick Rose is a valuable experienced addition, and the Knicks are led by the proper coach. Obi Toppin can create highlight reels, but a deal bringing Toppin and a young player like Immanuel Quickley to New York might bring in another star. The Knicks cannot rest on their laurels and must make a move to be a contender in the Eastern Conference.
Kemba Walker of the Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder traded a veteran for a first-round selection once again, and we might see the same thing with Kemba Walker, who just arrived. Walker will begin the season with Oklahoma City and will most likely be traded for additional draft choices. The Thunder are in a no-nonsense tanking mode, so any club that offers selections will be getting Kemba Walker.
Terrence Ross, Orlando Magic
Before the trade deadline, the Magic blew apart the club, and that trend may continue this summer. Terrence Ross averaged 15.6 points per game this season and is being closely watched by NBA clubs. Ross has the ability to light it up when he’s in the mood, but he can also be very inconsistent. Ross, on the other hand, is a great scoring spark plug off the bench for any championship contender. Orlando is likely to seek draft choices or young players in exchange.
George Hill (Philadelphia 76ers)
The 76ers may trade Ben Simmons, but they may wait until his value rises next season. Simmons is now being mocked around the league for his inability to regularly shoot a jump jumper. George Hill is the most probable player to be transferred this summer, based on current circumstances. Hill, who is 35 years old and only averages 8.7 points per game, may be traded to make room on the roster for guys who can play more minutes in Doc Rivers’ rotation.
Dario Saric, Phoenix Suns
With Chris Paul and Devin Booker guiding the club to the NBA Finals, the Phoenix Suns are enjoying a fairytale season. Their objective of winning a championship is within grasp, and a roster change, win or lose, might be beneficial. The Suns have a strong roster, but it’s possible that Dario Saric may be traded for another swingman who can both defend and shoot.
CJ McCollum, Portland Trail Blazers
CJ McCollum, who averages 23.1 points per game with Damian Lillard, is one of the greatest scorers in the NBA. McCollum will almost certainly be traded in order to match Lillard with a more appropriate star who can defend or at the very least provide more size. Portland has signed Chauncey Billups as their head coach, and they seem to be on the right track. There are a number of guys on Portland’s roster that need to be replaced, but McCollum might be one of them.
Harrison Barnes (Sacramento Kings)

De’Aaron Fox is the Sacramento Kings’ franchise cornerstone, but they need to make a major deal to add a dominating presence in the paint. Harrison Barnes is a capable starter in the NBA, but in return for Jusuf Nurkic, he may be better suited in Portland. The Kings can combine Marvin Bagley III with Nurkic down low, but Richaun Holmes may be gone in free agency, necessitating the addition of a big man.
DeMar DeRozan, San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs are expected to be in rebuilding mode this summer, which means DeMar DeRozan is unlikely to return to San Antonio. DeRozan had a great season, averaging 21.6 points per game and 6.9 assists per game, indicating that he still has a few years to play at an All-Star level. The Spurs may work out a deal with DeRozan to sign and move him to a club that needs him more. DeRozan may not have been able to replace Kawhi Leonard’s unfillable shoes, but that doesn’t mean the Spurs shouldn’t cash in on the four-time All-Star.

The Toronto Raptors were a huge letdown this season, and they need need a star to complement Kyle Lowry and Pascal Siakam. Due to his age, OG Anunoby is the most valued asset on the roster and should be transferred to make room for a star. Fans in Toronto hope that DeMar DeRozan’s return to the Raptors will help the club return to the playoffs.
Derrick Favors, Utah Jazz
During the regular season, the Utah Jazz were the greatest team in the NBA, and the roster is well-balanced on both sides of the court. Donovan Mitchell’s game should improve next season, and Utah should be a stronger team as a result. Derrick Favors is a good big man, but he should be traded to make room for Mike Conley if he exits free agency.
Thomas Bryant, Washington Wizards
The Washington Wizards had a rough start to the season, but were propelled to the playoffs by Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook. Fans will not put up with poor performance next season. Washington fired head coach Scott Brooks, but they still need to find a starter who can complement their two superstars. This season, Thomas Bryant made significant progress, but he must be sacrificed in order to strengthen the squad.
